  • statute of limitations... am I out of time?

I was assaulted in a hospital by a surgeon 2 years and 10 months ago. I was also given negligent care which resulted in me paying for surgery with another surgeon to put it right. I had a emotional breakdown and have been really ill. The GMC have at last concluded and it was found as proven at the hearing in Manchester at the mpts hearing.
I rang a few companies to see if I could claim some compensation for the incident the further surgery and its effect on me.
They all turned me down saying I was out of time.
Is there anything I can do myself? maybe litigant in person?
Am I out of time? I believed it was 3 years.
Please can anyone give me some advice ?
