  • Ive done a stupid thing, Trusted a DC too much

    Hi All.
I've recently had a claim made against me by a well known DC company.

Firstly I disputed their claim with a defence that they hadn't sent me relevant proof, forward a few month and then they sent me signed agreements etc, enough for me to know if it went to court judge would find in their favour )-: again.

So I bit the bullet and contacted them, stated without prejudice I would like to settle this as its affecting my health, it is........

They would only knock a couple of hundred £££££ off a 4K debt, I told them I only had 3k availableat the time, they stated it wasn't enough, few days later I found the extra, paid a few more ££££ online than they asked for, what was the actual claim total without fees, thought that would be that and hopefully marked as fully satisfied,.

The DC has now told me they are not happy with the payment they originally asked for and asking for another 1k for their legal fees and that they are to continue with the court claim.
We all know these DCs are bottom feeders, and in hindsight, yes I know what I did was stupid, they cant be trusted can they !

So going to court now over these fees, will the judge take into account my plight or is it a forgone conclusion that the DCs know exactly what they are doing and I may as well stay at home ?

I have a few other debts that I now need to sort who I am currently making token payment to, I really don't want to correspond with these con artists, they cant be trusted can they, is their a way for a 3rd party to be involved so the deals don't backfire like this one, it puts me off settling and I would like to.

If anyone can recommend a way to deal with these please PM me if it cannot be posted, I owe approximately 3 DCs 5k, does anyone offer a service like this please ?

I know it won't help for the bulk but are you sure that the agreement they sent you was compliant

When was the original agreement taken out ?

If it didn't go to court I can not see how they can claim their fees etc

Do you have anything in writing?

How much have you now paid the DCA ( Please name them it will help yo assess the best approach.)

Has all this been in writing? If it's been dealt with verbally by phone they can easily deny what's been said.
What was the debt for and who was the original creditor.

What has happened to the claim?
