    Hi ,
    ive been living in a flat for 7 months and i never recived any council tax to be payed while i lived there
    i left the country and after 4 months my friend received a bill for 780£ from this agency call newlyn
    i called them today and now its 1050£
    i tried to arrange a payment plan as i have a 7 months baby and my maternity leave allowance stopped last month but .they want at list half now and half next month
    i cant pay because i dont have the money so fast
    i need to mention that i am not living in uk anymore
    whats the worse can happen if i dont pay the debt with them ?
    Please help me

            They might threaten the friend for the money if they are resident there, as if you were both living at the same address at the same time it would likely be a joint debt. Some EAs are daft enough to claim they can chase in a foreign jurisdiction. but if you are not in the UK little they can do. The council can go for a committal to prison for willful non payment, but if you aren't here they would be silly to try that. If they did get a warrant they could arrest you at the airport if you came back within say 12 months but again unlikely. Other Beagles could clarify that.

              i wanna pay but not in 3 days as they say
              maybe few months i need
              i just dont like the way they push me and threaten me
              i will try to call them again and find some middle ground

                You could offer them payment at a rate you can afford, and tell them that as they cannot enforce at your current address as it is outside 5the UK they cannot attend and add a Sales Fee or try to Take Control Of Goods, so offer them what you can afford, and tell them take it or leave it. Tell the council also that the EA cannot enforce so could they take it back. and you will pay them XX every week/month.

                If Screwlyn are silly tell them they can take it or leave it.
