  • Contract had different Registration Number on to the car

    on behalf of new user

Hello i purchased a car over two years ago under hire purchase after looking at the hire purchase agreement recently i realised that the car i bought should of had a private number plate as that is the plate on the contract i signed. i remember being told by the dealer at the time that the car had a private plate but it was not on the car at the time and i totally forgot about it until i checked the agreement. I am now confused about the validity of the contract and if i will own the car at the end of the agreement as my car has a different number plate than on the hire purchase agreement.
Also i am curious if the contract could be void as i signed to buy a car with a private reg (which in itself adds value to the car) and received a car with a standard reg. so the goods on the contract are different to the good i received any advice would be appreciated.
    Regards

whats the reg on the V5C is it the private plate
or is it the standard reg.

    4. Renewing or updating your certificate of entitlement

You’ll receive a reminder letter if you haven’t assigned the number to your vehicle and your V750 certificate of entitlement is about to run out. You can renew it for up to 3 years - otherwise you lose the right to assign it to your vehicle.

    update on that
To transfer or retain a vehicle registration number the
    following must apply

You must not sell or get rid of the vehicle until you
Receive a replacement V5C. If you do sell or get rid
Of the vehicle before you get a replacement V5C, the
New keeper is entitled to keep the vehicle registration
    Number if they want to

The vehicle must be a type that has to have an MoT
    Or GVT certificate.
Under the Retention of Registration Marks Regulations
(As amended) at any time we may withdraw your right
    To the vehicle registration number.

So you don’t own the private reg
As for the legality of the contract some legal beagle will need to help you
        With that.
