  • Had enough of EON

What is it at the moment, just had a "battle" with BT and now have another in the pipeline with EON.
Been a customer since we moved here, in the days that they were Power gen.
Our little house is all electric. and the first winter bill was horrendous, managed to get an agreement to pay off .
The following year a new bill was due had a e-mail to say that it would be "read shortly" by the meter reader and that I need do nothing (More of this later!)
However still had an estimated bill but was "in credit" I phoned for an explanation and to be told that The reader could not gain access" this was untrue as the meter is on the side of the house.
Once that was sorted I now manage my account on line having just signed up to a new fixed tariff, my annual review is due in February and up to then the fixed amount of £49 per month.
Every time we have bill due we get the e-mail to say that the meter reader was due and this has only happened once in a year when they appeared three weeks after this so I did not belive this, read the meter my self and sent off reading.
Logged on again last night and they wanted to rise the monthly payment to £83!
Had to call them as the section on line would not let me alter it down any more that £58.
The adviser was very rude and condescending and I held my ground and insisted that this was all we could afford and that they were, in effect breaking the rules the whole idea was that my payments were fixed and according to the calculations that they themselves made there would only be a possible shortfall of about £2 so why the need to almost double it.
He did concede and now the payments will be £58.
I deceded to do a check to swich and can get a cheaper deal, the problem is that it is with EON!!!
How come they did not mention that.
They say that, currently they are not putting prices up, but do not hold your breath.:mad2:

I thought the new rules were they had to put you on the best tariff available?
You sure the deal you read is not for 'new customers only' cause that's how they claw them in.

Quite sure as you had to enter your current supplier and tariff.

Indeed! I expect they will wriggle out of it would not mind so much but when I renewed the tariff in September i asked then should I increase the DD and was told not to worry it was not due for review until February.
Thank goodness for our log burner thats all I can say!halopump

Only responce I have had is a letter confirming DD.
E mailed again emphasising the need for quick responce.

Phone call today whilst I was out and after requesting that responce be by e mail or snail mail.
Also further e mail, appologising etc but still no explanations wanting me to phone them as they now recomend a new tarrif.
Checked this out and yes it is cheaper but does not say what would happen to DD.May, reluctently, have to phone them again.

                    Hi
I find the most annoying thing with Eon is they ask for meter readings all the time and your bill never comes down your DD just goes up . I bet the next time you do a meter read they will double your DD my argument is they are increasing your DD to cover your future bills based on 10 months usage not 12 and if like me you use less over the summer months you never benefit

                      Re: Had enough of EON

And when I suggested I raise it slightly in July was told not to worry as my review was not due until February, and the e mails they send just before you are due a bill to say NOT to read it as the meter reader was due, no evidence of thus apart from when I actually fid see him in July!

Bit the bullet and phoned last night.
Talked about the fixed V5 tarriff which states DD would be £53, agreed verbally to this.
Only to find that when I checked e mails this morning they are "uhable to do this as there is outstanding debit and I could either pay this now or pay it off over twelve months"
Phoned again and they are supposed to be getting back to me.
My argument being that 1) The review of our account was not due until February and 2) According to their own calculations we would only be adrift by £3.
Really feel I need to take this further.

Well I am not surprised I did the comparison chart and reduced my DD by 30 quid got a email to confirm then had to ring them when the DD did not change only to be told I could not do it as it would mean on my review date I would owe them too much
Ha what a laugh how do they know I would owe them money have not used the electric yet
When I rang thats when they wanted meter readings and added another 100 quid to my bill so well and truly stuffed this winter but I would like to try and cancel my DD and save for my bill in a jar like my good old mum but its proving to be a real pain every time I get ahead its bill time again

                            Re: Had enough of EON

                            I've had worse than that.

When the gas meter stopped working, they cancelled the preposterous "estimated" bills they'd been sending and they arranged for a new meter to be fitted.

A month later, they sent me another "estimated" gas bill - for £2,400!!

There were just two problems with that:
                            1. if I had used that much gas in a month, the boiler would have melted, and
                            2. I'd not used the boiler at all since the meter swap.

                            They really are dozy pillocks.
