  • Client Connection Ltd

Hi i am brand new to the site but wanted some advice and i can see that my concerns are shared by other members.

The issue - At 11:00hrs today i was phoned out of the blue by CLIENT CONNECTION LTD. They "Paul JAMES" told me that my name had come up on a list in relation to credit card companies miss selling their products. In a nut shell, he told me that if my interest rate changed, my limit was increased then i should sign for every change to my account and a check should be made to ensure i can meet the new payments and so on. All very plausible i thought.

He then asked if i had any of the following cards, any from MBNA, Mint, Egg and the Halifax group and some others. I told him i had a Sky card and a Virgin. "GREAT NEWS" he stated they are some of the worst !

He explained that due to the above issue of miss selling and other changes they act on my behalf and using the one of the top two firms in the country "FORBES & DOUGLAS" they aim to make a claim and reset my balance to 0, in effect writing off the debt and getting me a refund on all payments i had made to the CC companies. They have a 98.6% success rate, how could i loose.

The fees - FORBES & DOUGLAS take 30% of any cash paid back over £1500 and CLIENT CONNECTION Ltd only wanted £499 per card now over the phone !! But of course i would get a full refund if i did not win but i would be unlucky as i would be in the 1.4% bracket.

Reassurance - Dont worry we are regulated, http://www.claimsregulation.gov.uk/details.aspx/16588/Client_Connection_Limited_/2 and took me to this government site which i thought "SUPERB" and nearly signed up. On the site CMR: Claims Management Regulation i entered their registration code CRM16588.

    They are part of
    Cento Client Review
UK Claims Manager. I asked if i could have time to think about my options and could i call back. Proffesionally and quickly the excuses started coming about customer services blah blah and he would phone me back in one hour. "I DONT KNOW WHAT CHECKING YOU CAN DO WE ARE REGULATED BY THE GOVERNMENT, WE ARE ON THEIR SITE" 15 minutes later he phoned back to appologies to inform me his supervisor had been listening in and he had been told off as he told me the fee was £499 per card where it was actually per person / claiment. I told him a wasnt prepared to pay immediately over the phone and could he send an info pack. Apparantly that cost the solicitors money and the cost to the environment wa too great to send out packs. So he is phoning back tommorrow.

I am sure i know the answer but, it sounds too good to be true "IS It ?"

Sorry for the long post but wanted to be detailed and if a scam which i suspect it is people may look and have been told the same.

    Thanks Dale.

        Re: Client Connection Ltd

Hi thanks for you response they are really helpful. Client connection Ltd / CENTO got in touch again today and after much persuasion they sent me an E Mail. Still all very official and plausible. They dont give up easy. I have forwarded all info to TOOLS.

        IMO, utter garbage.

The history of the Finance market is dogged by miss-selling and unfair relationships between borrower and lender. Client Connection Ltd wants to find out if you are entitled to a payment from a lender, past or present and, if so, help you gain redress.

The new consumer credit act of 2006 enables borrowers to challenge credit agreements in court on the grounds that the relationship between the parties is unfair and the Consumer credit agreements are unenforceable or fundamentally flawed. Products include; Mortgages, Secured loans, Personal Loans, Motor finance and credit cards. This means that the balance of your loan could be written off and you no longer have the burden of your debt.

At Client Connection Ltd we have seen many Loan Agreements that have been incorrectly drafted or signed by the lender, the most common examples being incorrect APR % amounts or figures entered in the wrong section of the loan document. Hidden Commissions are common and are amongst many flaws that are found. Loans and credit agreements are subject to strict rules and many of the errors that we see mean that the loan itself will be deemed unenforceable.

In short, lenders are now paying the consequences for failing to comply with the consumer credit act of 1974.

The process of checking to see if you are entitled to a claim is approximately 12 weeks from the date your payment was taken.

The administration costs will be refunded to you if in the unlikely event that your particular claim does not fit this criteria.

        CUSTOMER INFORMATION

        The Claim Process:

Please take a minute to read this document as we would like to explain who we are, how the claim process works and why you need to complete these forms:

        Who are we?
We are a CMC (Claims Management Company) It is a legal requirement to have a Ministry of Justice licence to carry out this role. We are regulated by the Ministry of Justice in respect of regulated claims management activities. Our authorisation number is CRM 15605
Our registration can be viewed at www.claimsregulation.gov.uk.
We receive claims from customers and agents. Agents are paid a referral fee.
We process the claims in house or pass on to a solicitor, depending on the complexity and value of the claim and whether litigation is required. You should check whether you have any other method of making a claim, there is no obligation to utilise our service. Please feel free to consider the other services available.
Please ensure that you read all the Paperwork before signing and returning it.
There is an amount of documentation you will need to complete, please see below.

        Questionnaire.
The Questionnaire is the essential document that needs completing very carefully. This will assist in assessing any potential claims you may have. Please complete a separate Questionnaire for each Agreement/Loan or Policy.

        Letter of Authority.
The Letter of Authority gives us the ability to deal directly with the lender and retrieve vital information regarding the claim. This letter also covers the Data Protection Act, this ensures that under this Act the lender supplies us with the loan details and loan history within 40 days of our request. The lender is currently entitled to a maximum fee of £10.00 for supplying this information, this should be paid by you and made payable to the lender. Sometimes the lender returns this payment to you. Please complete a separate Letter of Authority for each lender and provide two proofs of identification which must be less than three months old.

        Letter of Engagement.
This is the contract with us. This allows us to act on your behalf dealing with the claim throughout the whole process. It sets out our fees and our Terms and Conditions. You have a “cooling off” period of fourteen days from the date of signing the Letter of Engagement.

        What will it cost?
We work on a NO WIN, NO FEE basis. Our fees are paid as a percentage of the claim, so we only get paid (if the claim succeeds) out of the money recovered.
If we win a claim on your behalf we take a fee of 30% (plus VAT) of the compensation amount. You receive the rest. If we fail to secure compensation, you owe us nothing.
There is a £10 document request fee that has to be paid to the lender for each claim and this is non-refundable.

        Supporting Documentation
Please supply the original Agreement/Loan or Policy documents if these are available. These documents will be returned once the case is concluded or upon the clients request. Please do NOT staple ANY of the documents together as we have to scan the documents, our scanner does not like staples!!

        Case Assessment
Once we have received the completed documentation we can make an initial assessment of the case. In most cases we are able to start the process of the claim at this stage. However, it may be that further information is required from you or the lender in order to fully assess the case. We may contact you to obtain this information or contact the customer directly.

        Processing the Claim
Our professional team will then manage the entire claim process, including any appeals to the Ombudsman and if required any court proceedings. We will review any offer of compensation and advise you accordingly as to whether the offer should be accepted. We will endeavour to claim for the principal claim plus interest. It is very important that any communications from the lender are passed to our team without delay as the case could become prejudiced.

        Panel Solicitor
If appropriate the case may be referred to a Panel Solicitor. Should this be the case, the solicitors may act under a Conditional Fee Agreement (CFA), this means that nothing is paid by you as each case is insured so should the case fail you will not be responsible for any legal costs from any party. The solicitor will contact you directly in order to get their CFA signed and returned to them. We will assist you through this process.

        Conclusion of the Claim
At the end of a satisfactory claim we will forward to you the value of the claim less our fees as set out in the Letter of Engagement.

Did you manage to read the Cento and CMC threads I posted, if so, can you see why you were advised against using any of them?

Thanks Dale for posting up your email from Client Connections. I note that the terms and conditions are actually from Forbes Douglas. Forbes Douglas do not employ in house Solicitor's, I have that in writing from their MD. So again yet more of your personal info would be passed on to yet another outside source.

Did, Client Connection/ Cento Client Review ever send you their terms and condition as well, as it is them who are selling you the service and it is them that you are expected to pay an initial sum of money. What happens to your money if you say change your mind in 14 days time, you presumably would not have had sight of their T&C's and do not know if that is returnable.

Did you ask then again where they actually got your name and phone number from....

Hi, I joined your network while searching for info about Client Connections. They rang my mobile and like others mention here, directed me to the official looking government website and promising to regain overpaid amounts on mortgages, credit cards etc. I queried how they got my number and they quickly said it was on a database and smoothly continued their banter. They guaranteed that if I paid several hundred pounds and their search didnt come up trumps, I would get all my money back. ( I bet!). I finally got rid of them by saying I would check them out. Fortunately, I discovered the Legal Beagles site. They ring around twice a day still, but I don't answer. Thanks for your info and warnings

                Hi Canis Minor

Thank you for posting up your experience with Client Connection Ltd and a huge welcome to Legal Beagles.

We have only had one poster who said he has received a refund but other than that no success stories either here or on other comsumer web sites.

What did they want to sell you Mis-sold PPI or Credit Card Charges?

Credit card charges have been done on this site with a simple letter and some peeps have received the refunds in as little time as 9 days. http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...splay.php?f=33 have a look at Tools v Barclaycard. PPI if Mis sold PPI this can be done through the Financial Onbudsman again with no fees to be paid.

If there is anything that we can help you with, please give us a shout.

Thanks for the welcome and info. They believed I may have been charged too much for mortgage and credit cards. I didn't take up any offer from them since this Legal Beagles site is a goldmine of information on these subjects anyway. I'm just glad I found it.

I stated I would check them out with my financial advisor before having any dealings with them. They said they would call back tomorrow.

                          Hi Mandieb

                          You are very welcome.

If Amethsyt is unable to get this refunded then it is time for action I would say.

Then you must send them a letter before action and send by special or recorded delivery and give them 10 days to respond requesting the return of your money and statutory interest at 8%. You must also be willing to take this all the way to court if need be. I take it you have confirmation in writing that they said they would refund you as you will need this for evidence.

please do not telephone them keep everything in writing and if you look this company up on Companies house you will find the managing Directors name and I would address this to him.

If you need any further help please post up.

I had a phone call from this company today (life style claims) they wanted £299 + vat on my credit card. They did everything others have mentioned on here, showing me their site etc. They wouldn't take no for an answer, I even got the manger on the phone to me. I kept saying I wanted to talk it over with my partner before I did anything, but still they went on. My partner who was listening in on the conversation got annoyed and shouted in the background that its all a scam and we wanted nothing to do with them. They then hung up on me lol

Can anything be done about this company? What do we know about them? Is it all a scam or is this a real company? Can we report them to anyone?

It is a real company. Lifestyle claims are reg'd with the MOJ (recently)

There is guidance against asking for upfront payments from 'customers' ( News - Claims Management Regulation
)and a lot of what they tell you is rather exaggerated (but hard to say in your case without knowing what they were promising you) .

Their DMP arm tho does not have a consumer credit licence so I'd avoid that.

Ahh interestingly they have reg'd Lifestyle claims with the MOJ under a new Ltd company as well as under Client Connection. Shall have to look into that.
