Cheeky beggers would not give me a 6 month increase in my overdraft yet will happily charge me 90quid a month....

Anyone else had one of these?

      Re: Yet more charges

Snatchwest do this to me on a regular basis. They also just charged my son 58 quid for going £2 overdrawn. 30 paid referral and 28 overlimit fee.

It has always been my argument that if they could let me go overdrawn in order to implement a charge, why couldn't they just let me go over to pay the item in question instead of bouncing it? then just charge the overlimit fee?

The answer to that is easy though isn't it - they make more money by doing it their way.

Mocha, I think they may be charging you 1 paid referral fees albeit they can charge a maximum of 3 per month.

              Bloody hell honey.

thats not a maximum of 3 (£90) a 'statement period' is it. Can you see on the online banking how many things have bounced/been paid referrals ? and how long that £494 has built up over?

Peed myself when I saw it

I assume its built up over the last month as this time last month I had a line saying 15/06 Unpaid fee's £114.

Just written to them again saying speed up my hardship claim

Think you need to say more than that. They can't charge nearly £500 charges in a month.

                    They did!

                    Dear Sir/Madam
                    Financial Hardship

I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges applied to my account in the last 6 years. I believe these charges are unfair and do not reflect the true cost to Natwest of going into unauthorised overdraft.

I note the FSA's definition of financial hardship as detailed in the updated waiver and believe that I meet these criteria for the following reasons.
I was made redundant in October and have been unable to find another position this has reduced our Income by £1200 a month.

My partner XXXX works on a commission basis and due to the current economic climate he is no longer making commission thus reducing our monthly income by a further £1000 a month.

                    We currently have the following arrears;

                    Gas £73.51 1 months arrears
                    Electricity £144.37 month arrears
Credit Card Arrears £350 all 2 months late
                    Phone £35 1 month arrears
                    Car insurance £40
Cat Insurance £10.69 (for one cat only)
This month as you will be aware if you check our account the vast majority of direct debits have bounced and we are currently nearly £700 over our overdraft. The majority of which is made up of penalty charges.

We have been buying food and paying for petrol and basic essentials on credit cards which are now maxed out. We have no further funding sources, no money to purchase food or to pay our bills. We also owe my parents £2000 and my partners parents £500.

I have provided proof of the above as much as I can, and will happy to provide any more information you may need. I have also attached an income and expenditure sheet .As the FSA waiver states that you should deal with my hardship case I would ask that you deal with my case as urgent.

I wrote to to you 3 weeks ago requesting Financial Hardship help, you have as yet to reply. See attached letter.

                          Re: Yet more charges

Paid Referral Fee £90 MAX for the month
Maintenance Charge £28 for the month
                          Guaranteed Card Payment - max £105 a day !!!!!!!!!!!!
                          Unpaid Item Fee - £114 max a DAY !!!!!!!!!

So yes they could easily get up to £500 by deciding to pay 3 DD's and bounce everything else.

I'd move before they take those charges. Seriously. Sort it out after - repayment plan/reclaim etc - let thme charge themselves then repay themselves rather than take your money.

I also think your letter needs a bit of beefing up if you havent sent it yet ?
