  • Couldnt have planned this BG

OK Bristish Gas failed to attend a bookling to service my meter, i sat in all day.
Rang the office and the Gas man had flagged he had placed a card in my door.

I was disussted told them to shove it when they said i had to wait another 2 weeks.

Now im sat here with what i belive could be a small ( very small) gas leak....

Its going to be so dear to call out now.

do i have nay recourse, they had bank details but had not taken the 1 off payment by direct debit yet.

Thanks Matt can't see any prices and i can't walk into a blind bill.

Not when i can turn it off at the stop tap by the meter. its only fire and heating I cook electric. i can go with out for a week till get a priced up service visit.

Would i have a good complaint to British gas?
      Thanks P

If the repair co come out all they do is make the leak / appliances safe. They then tell you what you what needs repairing. They don't charge you. As far as I can see anyway.

Sorry matt posted the same time.

It would be sods law for me to have a leak after being let down for a service check:devil:.

                Hiya Pam,

I used to work for British gas and I recommend that you phone the emergency number given in Matts above post. If the leak is inside your property, they will check this with a simple pressure test.If it proves that there is a leak inside your property they will turn off your stop cock inside the property. if it is the service pipe leading to the house they will cut the gas off in the street. Whichever they do will not cost you anything. The only cost to you will be the repair of any internal leak and you can get sombody other than British gas to do the repair. STAY SAFE.

                Best wishes,
                Hod...Liam..

Sometimes damp smells can be mistaken for the smell of gas but where gas is concerned there is no point in taking the risk. THERE IS NO CHARGE to come out to your property if you think there is a gas leak, whether the repair can be made while they are there (if its to do with their side) or not, the property will be made safe. There is not just the risk of explosion with a gas leak but also the risk of carbon monoxide poisioning which I am sure HOD will back me up on. Please just get national grid out to check it out for you, just to make sure.

Smell totaly gone never returned since bin was binned??

But what a day British Gas cheeky sods still removed the money from my mums account £77.

lucky enough it was to day and they have recalled it.

I rang and advised Salt in a very sore wound, had much apologies and advised if i would accept they can get someone with me tomorrow between 12 and 2!
                        i agreed, very nice lady...

She did advise the man i spoke to was actually the planning manager and never canceled the account, i advised he put me on hold to talk! to the planning manager. So it seems a big cover up by manager running their own department.

the lady advised if i had spoken to her on the day of the problem i would have got the same service as today and would definitely of not had to wait 2 Weeks!.

tried to negotiate lower price , no luck, no compo either thats only on the supply side of things.

but will be nice to get the cobwebs cleared.

what bill is this then pam? i am a little confused. You should not be paying transco to come out and check for a gas leak, or did you have boiler protection with british gas?
